The Rockets hit their first four shots out of the break and surged ahead. The Bulls missed 12 of their first 16 shots after halftime, but made enough defensive stops to stay close.

Taj Gibson and Boozer tipped in misses in the last minute of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 66-65 heading to the fourth. Chicago went 7 for 24 from the field in the third quarter and missed all three of its 3-point attempts to slip to 0 for 10 for the game.

Robinson cut through Houston’s defense for two layups and hit a floater with 5:57 left to put the Bulls up 79-78. Asik was called for goaltending tipping in a Harden miss and lost the ball out of bounds on another possession as the Rockets continued to sputter on offense.

Notes: Chandler Parsons had 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for Houston. ... The Bulls went 2-for-16 from 3-point range (12.5 percent). ... Harden tied a career high with five steals. ... Chicago held its opponent under 100 points for the first time in five games.
