The Sycamore boys bowling team went on the road to Rochelle and lost, 3,248-3,172, Tuesday. Kyle Bonnell led the Spartans with a 584 series while Zack Kroeger contributed a 545 series.
“We just couldn’t quite find the shot tonight and struggled with spares,” Sycamore coach Aaron Williams said. “Rochelle bowled a great third game and took the series, so hats off to them.”
Sycamore plays DeKalb today at Mardi Gras Lanes.
Spartans down Rochelle: Sycamore started its conference season with a Northern Illinois Big 12 East win over Rochelle, 2,898-2,646.
The Spartans were led by senior captains Dani Pivonka (555 series) and Kayla Webb (521).
DeKalb upends Kaneland: The Barbs’ consistency over three games resulted in a 2,906-2,568 victory over Kaneland at Mardi Gras Lanes.
Junior Maddy Jouris led the Barbs with a 577 series, including a high game of 204. Senior Kodi Underwood contributed a 531 series and high single-game score of 194 while senior Jessica Eberly recorded a 507 series.
Kaneland senior Amanda Strayve led the Knights with a 563 series, including a 214 game, the highest of any bowler. Junior Christie Crews recorded a 484 series for the Knights.
Somonauk wins first game: The Bobcats defeated Spring Valley Hall, 58-50 gaining their first win of the season.
Jacob Alstadt had 15 points and six rebounds while Reece Bode led Somonauk (1-1) with eight rebounds.
DeKalb falls in season opener: The Barbs lost to LaSalle-Peru, 69-48, at the LaSalle-Peru tournament.
Jake Carpenter had 12 points while Rudy Lopez chipped in with 11 and Jake Smith added 10.
DeKalb (0-1) plays Rochelle today at LaSalle-Peru.
Indian Creek falls to Plano: The Timberwolves lost to Plano, 42-24.
Ariel Russell, Kate Thuestad and Samantha Mosley each led Indian Creek with five points.
Mosley also had 10 rebounds while Thuestad pulled down eight rebounds for the Timberwolves (2-2).
Indian Creek hosts Putnam County in its home opener on Monday at 7 p.m.
Barbs remain unbeaten: DeKalb defeated West Aurora, 41-30, at the Waubonsie Valley tournament.
Rachel Torres led the Barbs with 11 points and four steals. Courtney Patrick had eight points while Brittney Patrick had nine.
Maddy Johnson had six points and seven rebounds for the Barbs (3-0), who play Naperville North on Friday at 10 a.m.
