Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Sycamore junior WR / DB Ben Niemann and Kaneland senior offensive lineman Zach Theis were named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 5A All-State Team.

Niemann led the area with 876 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games as a junior. Sycamore went 7-4 on the year, losing to Montini Catholic, 24-22, in the second round of the playoffs.

Theis helped Kaneland to an undefeated regular season and its third consecutive Northern Illinois Big 12 East title. He was part of a big offensive line that helped lead the way for running backs Jesse Balluff and Nate Dyer, along with QBs Drew David and Tyler Carlson, to pile up big rushing totals.

The Knights lost to Lincoln-Way West, 31-15, in the second round.
