Blood drive for Genoa infant set for Saturday

GENOA – The Genoa-Kingston Fire Protection District will host a blood drive for a Genoa infant who needs blood transfusions to battle life-threatening conditions.

Beau Norris, who is 6 months old, was born with his aorta on the wrong side of his heart, and pulmonary atresia, meaning there was no connection between his heart and lungs.

At 10 days old, Norris had his first surgery to receive a BT shunt to help blood flow from his heart to his lungs and received his first of many blood transfusions.

While his outlook is positive, Norris – the grandson of Genoa-Kingston Fire Chief Bruce Kozlowski – still needs more blood transfusions.

The blood drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse on 317 E. Railroad St. in Genoa.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
