The House Cafe will feature films for the first time during its regular open mic event on Monday.

Two short films will be screened at around 9:30 p.m. Both films are produced by DeKalb residents. The films are “What Do I Say?” and “Vanity.”

“What Do I Say?” will be a special showing, as the film was made at The House Cafe. The film was produced by Spook Show Entertainment and directed by Willy Adkins of DeKalb. The film is a romantic comedy starring Deann Baker of Chicago and Myke Wilson of DeKalb. It is about a girl giving advice to her male friend about picking up girls.

“Vanity” was produced and directed by Northern Illinois University student Myke Wilson (N’Tense Pictures) and was filmed on location in Rockford. The film is a thriller about a girl named Megan who is hiding a dirty little secret from her boyfriend, Richard. When the secret is leaked, Richard and a few of his close friends make sure she pays for her one selfish secret.

Several people involved in the cast and crew of both films are expected to be in attendance for Monday’s Open Mic event. The event is free and open to all ages.
