South Prairie students visit Grand Victorian

Published: Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

South Prairie Elementary School fourth-graders in Jane Dargatz’s class shared their Halloween happiness and energy by visiting Grand Victorian Assisted Living in Sycamore.

Donning costumes, they walked to meet the residents. They sang pumpkin carols, talked with residents, toured the facility, and established a year-long relationship.

Prior to the visit, the students had written friendly letters to get acquainted, and they shared some fall and Halloween crafts they had made for them.

The residents enjoyed the letters, song, and shared connections they made with the students’ letters. Students enjoyed trick-or-treat candy and immediately asked when they could visit again.
