Letter: Why remove flags
before Veterans Day?

To the Editor:

On Nov. 1, I went to Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore to remove the flowers on our family graves. When I got there, all the flowers and flags were gone. After a hectic week with Pumpkin Fest and Halloween, I don’t think about removing the flowers until Nov. 1, and I don’t understand why the flags are removed before Veterans Day.

I had two husbands who both served in World War II, and I wanted those flags there to honor their service, and the flowers, too. I wonder why flags were left on a few other graves? Am I the only one who is bothered by this?
