Rake Across DeKalb needs job sites

Published: Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 5:30 a.m. CST

More than 370 Northern Illinois University students have volunteered to rake leaves for community members Saturday, but organizers need more places to send them.

Rake Across DeKalb pairs university students, faculty and staff with community homes to rake leaves from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The program is accepting job site requests through Friday from any community members who would like to have their leaves raked, according to Destiny McDonald, acting assistant director for community service within Student Involvement and Leadership Development.

"We were targeting the elderly and those who were not able for whatever reason, but it's just about giving back to the community," McDonald said.

For more information, contact McDonald at 815-753-6511 or driley2@niu.edu. A job site request form also is available online at www.dekalbcountyonline.com/event/rake-across-dekalb/.
