Urlacher says he is at full speed

LAKE FOREST – After missing most of training camp because of arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has looked better on the field in recent weeks.

It turns out Urlacher feels the same way.

“I feel like I’m getting better every week,” Urlacher said before practice Thursday at Halas Hall. “The more I’m out there, the better I’m going to get. [I’m] just seeing plays.

“I missed a lot of time during training camp. You don’t get to see the plays. You don’t realize how rusty you get. So the more I see them, the better I’ll get.”

Urlacher will make his eighth start of the season (and the 176th of his career) Sunday when the Bears visit the Tennessee Titans. He registered a season-high 12 tackles to go along with a pass break-up in the Bears’ most recent win against the Carolina Panthers.

Now almost three months removed from knee surgery, Urlacher said he felt fully healthy.

“Yeah, I’m there,” Urlacher said. “As 100 percent as I’m going to get.”

Trick or treat: Bears linebacker Lance Briggs is enjoying one of the most productive seasons of his career, but that could not prevent him from being harassed by teenage trick-or-treaters.

“Sadly, I turned the lights off a little bit,” Briggs said with a wry smile. “Had some kids, some 18-year-olds that kept ringing my doorbell all night. I just watched them on the cameras until they left. You’re too old to be trick or treating anyway. Come on.”

Bears bits: Bears cornerback Charles Tillman was named as the NFC defensive player for the month of October. … Receiver Alshon Jeffery (hand) was ruled out for Sunday’s game. … Offensive tackle Jonathan Scott (groin) missed practice along with Urlacher and defensive end Julius Peppers, who rested because of coach’s decisions. … Briggs was limited in practice because of a toe injury.
