Bail set in sex abuse case

SYCAMORE — Bond was set at $200,000 for the man charged with having sexual contact with a mentally disabled Cortland girl.

Jose L. Garcia, 27, of the 200 block of Walnut Street in St. Charles, was charged Wednesday with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He appeared in court Thursday via closed-circuit TV from the DeKalb County Jail.

Police said Garcia was at a party at the home of friends in Cortland when he sexually abused a mentally disabled girl between the ages of 13 and 17. Garcia was aware of the girl's disability, police said.
