Letter: Schmack will do the state’s attorney job correctly

To the Editor:

I am writing to endorse Richard Schmack for state’s attorney. Although I am a lifelong Republican, I was determined to give the Democrats a fair chance to earn my vote. I was thrilled when that candidate turned out to be Schmack.

In the 15 years I have known him, both personally and professionally, I have come to have the highest regard for him as a lawyer and a friend.

While we rarely agree on national politics, he has the right combination of integrity, common sense and experience to do a superb job in the office of state’s attorney.

I have been an open and enthusiastic supporter of Schmack from the moment he announced. I wish more of my fellow Republicans who support him quietly would feel free to be more vocal about it. After all, the only thing he and the incumbent agree on is that the office of state’s attorney is not about party politics.

Clay Campbell has been a bitter disappointment to me. I served as chairman of his campaign committee from 2003 through the 2010 election.

Sadly, after years of hearing
big talk, I found the reality to be one of ineptitude and failed promises.

Join me in voting for someone who can and will do the job right. I urge you to vote for Richard Schmack for state’s attorney today.

Sheri Wigant
