To the Editor:
As this election season draws to a close, I wanted to take the opportunity to reflect upon my contact with our citizens throughout the county. Having personally knocked on more than 11,000 doors countywide, I am reminded of the incredible decency of our citizens and how lucky we are to live here in DeKalb County.
I met many of you for the first time, and I had the opportunity to see some of you again at your doors, where we have chatted during past campaigns. I had the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and teachers, the parents of my classmates, people who knew my parents, and the parents of children I coached in soccer and little league.
Whether there were Republican or Democrat signs in the yard, all of you were so gracious and kind. When it was 100 degrees and humid, you offered me water and the chance to come into your homes and cool off. When it was raining, you offered me shelter.
I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to all of you who treated me with such kindness and courtesy. Regardless of the outcome Tuesday, I already feel like a winner knowing I have the privilege to serve the citizens of DeKalb County.
