Sycamore Pumpkin Festival events schedule

SYCAMORE - The Pumpkin Festival will continue this weekend with a carnival, house walk, a 10K race and a parade. The following is the schedule:

Today

• A craft show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is hosted by Sycamore United Methodist Church at 160 Johnson Ave. Food will be available.

• The 40th annual Autumn Treasures Craft and Treasures Market, hosted by Sycamore Music Boosters, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sycamore High School Field House.

• The Lions Club giant pumpkin weigh-in will begin at 10 a.m. on the lawn of the DeKalb County Courthouse on State Street.

• The teen carnival will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Sacramento and State streets. A $20 unlimited-ride special runs from noon to 4 p.m.

• The kiddie carnival for young children will be from 10 a.m to 11 p.m. at the parking lot at Somonauk and Elm streets. A $20 unlimited-ride special runs from noon to 4 p.m.

• The Historic Homes Walk will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets cost $20 each and are available at the Sycamore History Museum and at each home on the walk. Children ages 12 and younger are free.

• Zombie Miniature Golf, a fundraiser for seating at the Sycamore Public Library, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at the library. Tickets cost $10 a person or $25 a family. Not recommended for those who frighten easily.

• The Radio Disney Road Crew will make an appearance from 2 to 3 p.m. in the 100 block of Somonauk Street.

• The Kiwanis will host a pie-eating contest at 4 p.m. on the lawn of the DeKalb County Courthouse on State Street.

• Sycamore Public Library will host Scary Stories at 6 p.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery, corner of Charles and Elmwood streets. Bring chairs, blankets and flashlights.

Sunday

• The 40th annual Autumn Treasures Craft and Treasures Market, hosted by Sycamore Music Boosters, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sycamore High School Field House.

• The Sycamore Pumpkin Run 10K Road Race starts at 9:35 a.m. at the Sycamore Armory.

• The teen carnival will be from 10 a.m. to close at Sacramento and State streets. A $20 unlimited-ride special runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The kiddie carnival for young children will be from 10 a.m. to closing at the parking lot at Somonauk and Elm streets. A $20 unlimited-ride special runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The Pumpkin Parade will begin at 1 p.m. A handicapped-parking area is at the corner of Exchange and Main streets. A viewing area for the handicapped is at the intersection of State and Main streets. The parade route follows Somonauk, Elm, California, State and Main streets. All of these streets will be posted “No Parking.”

• The Sycamore Park District Halloween Costume Contest and entertainment will be at Sycamore Middle School from 4 to 6 p.m. for ages 2 to 12.
