SYCAMORE – A Sycamore teen was sentenced Thursday to probation for intimidating juveniles.

During a hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse, Mario Vega, 19, of the 900 block of East State Street in Sycamore, pleaded guilty to aggravated intimidation and domestic battery.

Police said Vega used intimidation and threats last year to get juveniles to join a gang known as the Surreno 13.

He also was charged with forcing a child under 18 to snort cocaine and tattooed the body of that juvenile, according to court documents.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Vega will be on probation for four years and must pay more than $875 in fines and restitution.

Because there is an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on Vega, Associate Judge Bill Brady said he may face deportation.
