The DeKalb girls volleyball team beat Rockford East, 25-10, 25-13, in a Class 4A Rockford East Regional semifinal Tuesday.
The top-seeded Barbs (29-8) advance to Thursday’s regional final, where they will face No. 3 Huntley.
Courtney Bemis led DeKalb with 13 kills, while Courtney Wagner added six kills and three blocks. Madison Lord finished with 18 assists for the Barbs, while Nicole Schladt added nine digs and two aces and Leah Scheri finished with six digs.
“I thought that we did a good job blocking the ball tonight,” DeKalb coach Ben Fisher said. “I thought we worked hard defensively. I thought everybody did a good fulfilling their roles tonight.”
Royals eliminated: Top-seeded Newark defeated No. 4 Hinckley-Big Rock, 25-11, 25-15 in the Class 1A Earlville-Leland Regional semifinal.
Lauren Paver had nine kills and 11 digs for the Royals, with Caitlyn Flanigan finishing with eight digs and Jaime Beitel adding seven.
Bobcats lose: Top-seeded Seneca defeated No. 4 Somonauk, 25-18, 25-21, in a Class 2A Amboy Regional semifinal.
Payton Orech had 10 assists and three aces for the Bobcats, who end the season at 20-14.
Westmont ousts T’wolves: Indian Creek’s season ended with a 25-17, 25-17 loss to Westmont at the Class 2A Lisle Regional. The fourth-seeded Timberwolves end the season with a record of 18-17.
Ariel Russell finished with two kills and eight digs for Indian Creek, while Kate Thuestad tallied eight kills, six digs and two blocks. Dallas Boehne had 12 assists for Indian Creek.
“This is kind of a hard group to say goodbye to,” Indian Creek coach Stephanie Crutcher said. “We have seven seniors and they’re just a great group of girls. They’re going to be very hard to replace next year.”
