Letter: Campbell will stand up to criminals, deserves vote

To the Editor:

As a small-business owner and the 4th Ward alderman in the city of DeKalb, many people ask me who I will be supporting this coming Election Day for DeKalb County state’s attorney.

I fully support Clay Campbell.

I urge the residents in DeKalb County, and in the 4th Ward of DeKalb, to give your vote to someone who will not back down from the criminals who decide to break the law in our county.

Lest you forget, Campbell has taken a 55-year-old cold case in Sycamore and finally, finally given the Ridulph family and city of Sycamore some closure. Thumbs up to Campbell for pursuing this case and winning. Thumbs down to the Daily Chronicle for printing a letter from the convicted murderer in your paper claiming his innocence (Daily Chronicle, Oct. 2, 2012).

Campbell has pledged to prosecute vigorously those individuals who think DeKalb County is the destination for their drug trafficking, gun trafficking and gang violence.

Richard Schmack, the challenger, has announced he is going to focus on traffic accidents (Daily Chronicle, Oct. 15, 2012). What’s next Richard ... jaywalking and oversized soft drinks?

Make your vote count for a state’s attorney who will continue to work hard for our county. Vote for Campbell on Nov. 6.
