Prep roundup: Indian Creek advances to regional semifinals

Indian Creek volleyball easily dispatched Walther Lutheran, 25-14, 25-12, to advance to the Class 2A Lisle Regional semifinals.

The Timberwolves will play No. 1 seed Westmont at 6 p.m. today.

“It was a good first game, but there’s still a lot of stuff we need to clean up,” Indian Creek coach Stephanie Crutcher said. “We served really well tonight.”

Indian Creek scored 13 consecutive points with Kate Thuestad serving. Thuestad had three aces and six kills while Ariel Russell contributed five digs and Dallas Boehne dished out 12 assists. The Timberwolves are 18-16 on the season.

Somonauk advances: The Bobcats defeated Serena, 25-21, 25-18, in the Class 2A Amboy Regional quarterfinals. Allison Humes had two aces, nine kills and 11 digs to lead Somonauk (20-13).

Somonauk faces No. 1 seed Seneca today at 6 p.m. in Amboy.

Royals move on: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated Paw Paw, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, in the Class 1A Earlville Regional quarterfinals.

Anne Klein had three aces and six kills while Lauren Paver recorded two aces and five kills. Caitlyn Flanigan led the Royals with 15 digs.

H-BR will play No. 1 seed Newark at 6 p.m. at Earlville.

Hiawatha sweeps: The Hawks defeated Orangeville, 25-16, 25-21, at the Class 1A Durand Regional quarterfinals.

Hiawatha faces No. 1 seed Keith Country Day today at 6 p.m. at Durand.
