CCT schedules ‘Honk!’ auditions

CCT’s Kids & Family show, “Honk!,” will tell the story of the ugly duckling, whose odd, gawky looks incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey, he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance.

“Honk!” is witty, funny and deeply moving. It received the 2000 Oliver Award for Best New Musical, beating out such heavyweights as “Mamma Mia!” and “The Lion King.” The production will be directed by Jeff Hall, and rehearsals will begin with a light schedule in December. Performances are scheduled for March.

Auditions for “Honk!” will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 4 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 at First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak St. in DeKalb. Those auditioning are required to be at least 7 years old on the date of audition. Performers should prepare an a capella song or nursery rhyme of their choice and should expect to participate in an acting audition.
