Prep roundup: Spartans' Ye goes 1-1 on final day of state tennis tourney
Sycamore freshman Angelina Ye went 1-1 on the third day of the IHSA state tennis tournament. Ye defeated Geneva’s Kirby Einck, 8-0, in the sixth round of the consolation bracket, and lost her seventh round consolation match to Chicago Whitney Young’s Natalie Whalen, 8-1.
“She had a good run,” Sycamore coach Dave Hillmer said. “It’s a great season for her.”
Kaneland’s Madi Jurcenko and Angelica Emmanoui went 2-1 on the final day and lost in the sixth round of the consolation bracket. The duo defeated Danville’s Rachel Lewis and Rebecca Lewis, 5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-3 and Glenbrook’s Martina Dragoytchev and Jessica Chepurda, 8-5.
