Sycamore freshman Angelina Ye had little trouble on the first day of the IHSA state tennis tournament. Ye won her first two matches easily in straight sets and then recorded a 6-0, 0-6, 6-3 win over Champaign Centennial's Allison Hansen in the third round.

Ye is only the second Sycamore singles player to advance to the second day of the state tournament. She will play Wheaton Warrenville South junior Keisha Clousing, who came into the tournament as the one of the top four seeded players, in the Round of 16.

The Kaneland doubles team of sophomores Madi Jurcenko and Jelly Emmanouil made history, becoming the first Kaneland tennis players to win a match at the state tournament.

Jurcenko and Emmanouil won their first two matches, advancing to the Round of 32, before falling, 6-2, 6-0 in the third round. They will continue play in the consolation bracket today.

Kaneland sophomore Sammie Schrepferman lost her first two matches. In the consolation round, Schrepferman was edged by Oswego East's Jaiere Harlow, 6-4, 7-5.

DeKalb senior Taylor Volk lost her first two matches at the state tournament.
