More charges for men in alleged fraud operation

SYCAMORE – Two North Carolina men police said were involved in a large-scale check-fraud operation face more than 20 counts of forgery.

Jarvis Z. Wright, 31, and Damien L. Little, 27, both of Charlotte, appeared during a hearing Wednesday at the DeKalb County Courthouse on 28 additional counts of forgery.

They were charged Monday with one count of forgery each.

Each count is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Wright, Little and Elissa M. Perry Young, 34, also of Charlotte, were arrested Monday after Perry Young tried to cash a suspicious check at National Bank & Trust in downtown Sycamore.

Police said Perry Young, also charged with one count of forgery, was a pawn in the scam; numerous forged checks were found in the car the men used.

According to court documents, the men obtained checks made out to various companies such as Rockford Metal Polishing and Mike’s Auto and Truck Repair.

Some of the checks were written for amounts as large as $8,154.95 and $3,114.03.

Bond on the new charges was set at $150,000, making each man’s total bond amount $225,000.

Wright will appear in court again Oct. 29. Little will be in court today.
