Four men charged in paintball shootings
SYCAMORE – Four men were charged Monday with shooting paintballs at people on Greenbrier Road in DeKalb.
Prince W. Spencer, 19, of the 900 block of North Lawndale Avenue in Chicago; Corey D. Taylor, 19, of the 200 block of North Long Avenue in Chicago; and Brenten Pitts and Brandon T. Pitts, both 20 and of the 500 block of Rice Avenue in Chicago, were charged with aggravated battery, mob action and three counts of battery.
All appeared in court Tuesday via closed-circuit TV from the DeKalb County Jail. If convicted of the aggravated battery charge, each could face up to five years in prison.
According to court documents, the men were shooting paintballs from a moving vehicle about 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Greenbrier Road. One person was hit in the eye; others were struck in the chest and neck, according to court documents.
Bond was set at $5,000 for Taylor, Brenten Pitts and Brandon Pitts. Spencer's bond was set at $10,000 after prosecutors said he is currently on probation out of Cook County for robbery.
All four men will appear in court again Oct. 29.
