Suspicious scent leads to gun charges

SYCAMORE – An Aurora man charged with having a loaded gun in his pocket early Sunday in DeKalb had his bond set at $40,000 Monday.

Leonard C. Baber, 22, of the 2100 block of Fox Point Drive in Aurora, was charged Sunday with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a firearm owner’s identification card and defacing identification marks on a firearm.

If convicted of the defacing identification charge, Baber faces up to seven years in prison. During a hearing Monday at the DeKalb County Courthouse, he appeared via closed-circuit TV from the county jail.
