Local student to be recognized at agriculture award dinner

On Nov. 2, Michael Long, recent graduate of Hinckley-Big Rock High School, will be honored as a National AFA Leader and Academic Scholar during a celebration of agriculture at the 2012 AFA Leader in Agriculture Award Dinner.

The dinner is held in conjunction with the AFA Leaders Conference – a dynamic leader event that connects the top agriculture students with industry professionals. AFA will welcome Long along with more than 500 other students from across the nation to the conference in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 1 through 4.

Long will have the opportunity to network with peers and professionals and invest in his personal development. The AFA Leader and Academic Scholarship provides for Long’s attendance to this event and support toward his freshman year tuition costs at University of Wisconsin – Platteville where he is studying agricultural business.
