PREP ROUNDUP: DeKalb wins 3rd consecutive NI Big 12 soccer title

DeKalb defeated Morris, 3-1, to win the Northern Illinois Big 12 East title for the third consecutive season.

"Winning a conference championship is a really impressive accomplishment," DeKalb coach Brent McIntosh said. "The 2010 and 2011 team laid the foundation for this team to build upon. Our defending from the start of the season was our strength and we've kept that mindset throughout the conference part of our season."

Misha Ryzhov, Cully Hicks and Andrew Stratton scored goals for the Barbs, who finished with an 8-1-1 mark in the NI Big 12 East. DeKalb is 11-2-5 overall.
