Capturing the essence of Genoa

Published: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

Are you an avid photographer, an artist with flair, or someone who posses distinctive design qualities?

If you have a photo, drawing, design or other piece of artwork that captures the essence of Genoa, you can submit it for consideration as the cover for this year’s City Calendar and Annual Report. For the past two years, the city has held a competition in which residents submitted a photograph or drawing for the City Calendar and Annual Report, and the winning photo became the cover for the report, mailed to all homes in Genoa.

The city will accept entries at City Hall until 5 p.m. Oct. 30. Your contact information should be written on the back of the entry or on a separate piece of paper submitted with the entry. Any artwork that has been personalized or signed on the front will not be considered.

The City Council will choose the winner. The winning entry and first runner-up will be recognized in the calendar and will be framed and displayed at the City Municipal Center. The third-place entry also will be framed and displayed.
