St. Peter’s offers Blessing of the Animals

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 218 Somonauk St., Sycamore, will offer a Blessing of the Animals on Saturday.

This event is held to give thanks to God for all animals, and especially for those who are a part of people’s lives as pets, service animals and livestock. Residents are invited to bring any animal that enjoys the company of people and other animals, to receive a blessing from the church in the name of God. If an animal cannot come to the event, participants can bring a picture, a collar, or other object as a sign of their relationship with the animal.

The rite of the Blessing of the Animals will include a brief reading from scripture, prayers offered for all kinds of animals, both wild and domestic, and the offering of the blessing itself.
