Opportunity House takes part in Art Walk

Published: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

Opportunity House was a participant in this year’s Art Walk on Oct. 6. The event is a community-wide art show put on by The Art Attack School of Art and sponsored by local businesses and individuals.

Art work created through the “My True Colors” art program at Opportunity House was on display and throughout the day featured artists showcased their artwork.

A demonstration of “Splatter Painting” took place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with Susan Edwards form Art Attack joining the Opportunity House artists for the 2 p.m. demonstration. Edwards has been involved with Opportunity House’s “My True Colors” art program since 2006.

Many of the pieces Opportunity House featured have been displayed at local businesses, such as Shawn’s and Caribou Coffee, and at The Art Attack. Opportunity House hopes to sell some of the splatter paintings to help fund the “My True Colors” program.

Anyone interested in purchasing a painting or donating to the “My True Colors” program should contact Opportunity House at 815-895-5108.
