Make-A-Wish, Walmart partner for fundraiser Saturday
DeKALB – A one-minute stop to Walmart Saturday means $1 for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Make-A-Wish Illinois and the no-contract cellphone provider Straight Talk Wireless are working together to raise $1 million to help grant the wishes of children with potentially fatal medical conditions.
Jessica Miller, spokeswoman for Make-A-Wish Illinois, said the first three Saturdays of the fundraiser has brought the $1 million goal in sight and the final Saturday could make it a reality.
"We were able to reach a pretty broad area because Walmarts are a lot of different places," she said.
To trigger the $1 donation, a person must complete a one-minute demo of a Straight Talk Wireless Android smart phone at Walmart between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday. The DeKalb and Rochelle Walmarts are participating in the event.
