Letter: A vote for Wanda Rohl is a vote for women’s rights
To the Editor:
I hope all Daily Chronicle readers saw Kathleen Blair’s letter Wednesday in support of Wanda Rohl for Congress in the 16th Congressional District. In addition to Wanda’s courageous stand in favor of us little guys in the 99 percent, she is also a strong supporter of women’s rights. Her opponent, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, on the other hand, has failed even to disown the anti-woman comments by fellow Republican, Missouri U.S. Senate candidate and U.S. Rep. Todd Aiken, about “legitimate rape” not leading to pregnancy.
Wanda’s opponent supports his party’s candidate for president, Mitt Romney, who has taken the following negative positions toward women:
• Romney labeled Roe v Wade “one of the darkest moments in Supreme Court history,” and don’t forget that if elected he could be appointing up to three Supreme Court justices.
• He would “get rid” of Planned Parenthood, let employers decide a woman’s contraception coverage, and let insurance companies charge women more.
• Romney picked U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate – a man who tried to redefine rape in an effort to limit a woman’s right to choose.
• Women and men of all ages, let’s get to the polls Nov. 6 and vote for this dedicated young woman, Wanda Rohl.
And, while we’re at it, let’s give President Obama the second term he deserves and with a Congress that will support his efforts to improve the lot of women and men in America – instead of a Congress dedicated to obstructing his every effort, no matter the consequences.
