DeKalb man pleads guilty to aggravated battery
SYCAMORE – A man charged in July with battering his girlfriend and her daughter was sentenced to probation Thursday.
During a hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse, Adelido Gomez-Diaz, 25, of the 800 block of Hillcrest Drive in DeKalb, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery.
According to court documents, Gomez-Diaz entered his girlfriend's home through a window on July 1 and attacked her and her 10-year-old daughter.
He was sentenced to two years of probation, more than $1,900 in fines and costs and 180 days in jail with credit for time served. Because there is a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on Gomez-Diaz, he will remain in the county jail until arrangements are made to pick him up, said Presiding Judge Robbin Stuckert.
Gomez-Diaz also was ordered to attend an anger management program and cannot have hostile contact with the victims.
