GENOA – Genoa-Kingston golfer Emily Wakeley didn’t think Monday’s round of golf in the Class A Genoa-Kingston Sectional at the Oak Club of Genoa was her best.

In a sense, it turned out to be the best round of golf that any G-K girls golfer ever has played, because Wakeley’s score of 96 on the cold and windy day made her the first girls golfer in G-K history to qualify for the state meet.

“It was overwhelming. I didn’t really play my best,” Wakeley said. “The weather was a factor. Lots of layers made it harder to swing.”
