Sycamore student part of college presentation

A group of North Central College students, including Samantha Andersen of Sycamore, recently experienced what it’s like to make an important presentation in front of corporate executives.

On short notice, the students prepared and delivered a 12-minute presentation about their involvement with the college’s Enactus (formerly Students In Free Enterprise, or SIFE) chapter. They made their presentation Sept. 20 in the conference room of a Chicago hotel before dozens of KPMG executives who gathered from around the world for an annual business meeting. The Chicago-based accounting firm is one of SIFE’s major international financial supporters.

In the presentation, students briefly spoke about their personal backgrounds, then explained how the college’s SIFE group is involved in a variety of projects, from helping a Guatemalan pottery maker ship goods without breakage, to helping Hopi native Americans identify new markets, to helping Guatemalan coffee growers distribute and sell their products to customers in America.
