NIU Choirs to give concert

The Northern Illinois University Choir program will hold its annual fall concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Boutell Memorial Concert Hall located in the Music Building at 300 Lucinda Ave. The concert will feature the NIU Chamber Choir, Concert Choir and University Chorus, under the direction of Eric Johnson.

The program will consist of works by Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber, F. Josef Haydn, Robert Pearsall, Moses Hogan, Jonathan Dove, as well as other composers.

The concert will include collaborations with guest artists James Brown, organ professor at NIU, and Jim Nerstheimer, NIU alumnus and current organist at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in DeKalb.

Also included in the program is a special performance by the Chamber Choir “Afro-American Fragments” by William Averitt. Averitt will be in attendance at the concert after participating in workshops with Chamber Choir.

The concert is open to the public and the building is accessible to all.
