Keller remembrance event set for today
DeKALB – Community members and Northern Illinois University staff and students are invited to A Summoning of Yellow event today to remember Antinette “Toni” Keller near the two-year anniversary of her death.
The support group will host the event at 7 p.m. at the DeKalb Elks Lodge 765 and give guests a chance to speak about memories of Keller and how her death has affected them. Coordinator Thelma Holderness said there would also be guest speakers and light refreshments thanks to a generous donation.
The lodge is located at 209 S. Annie Glidden Road.
Keller, a former NIU student, was last seen Oct. 14, 2010, when she told friends she was going for a walk in Prairie Park. Her body was found in the park two days later.
William “Billy” Curl, who is charged with killing Keller, is scheduled to go on trial Dec. 3.
Although the event is not a fundraiser, Holderness said the lodge would accept donations as it always does for a sunflower bench the group hopes to install at Prairie Park.
