CCT of DeKalb County, a nonprofit community theater organization based in DeKalb, has scheduled open auditions for the first two productions of its 2013 season of musicals.

All auditions will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak St. in DeKalb.

Auditions for CCT’s Stage Right Theatre production of “Rent” will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Those auditioning are required to be at least 15 years of age on the date of audition. Performances are slated for January 2013.

Those auditioning for “Rent” should prepare an a capella contemporary song of their choice and should expect to read from a selection of monologues. Individuals that are ages 15 to 17 must have a signed parental/guardian consent form when arriving at auditions. A digital copy of the form can be downloaded by clicking on the “Rent” icon at www.CCTOnstage.com. Individuals without the completed form will not be permitted to audition. Forms also will be available at auditions, if parents are accompanying.

Rehearsals for “Rent” will begin in late October.

In New York City in the 1990s, roommates and starving artists Mark, a filmmaker, and Roger, a guitarist and singer, struggle to find subject matter and keep their apartment after Benny, an ex-roommate who is now their landlord, demands that they pay rent. Mark finds inspiration in the relationships and struggles of his friends, Roger and Mimi, Angel and Tom, and Maureen and Joanne.

Auditions for CCT’s Kids & Family production of “Honk!” will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 4 and from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5. Those auditioning are required to be at least 7 years of age on the date of audition. Performances are scheduled for March 2013.

“Hokn!” tells the story of the Ugly Duckling, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey, he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms.

The production will be directed by Jeff Hall, and rehearsals will begin with a light schedule in December.

Those auditioning for “Honk!” should prepare an a capella song or nursery rhyme of their choice and should expect to participate in an acting audition.
