Letter: There’s no reason to replace
Campbell as state’s attorney

To the Editor:

Clay Campbell is my choice for state’s attorney. Under his direction, the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office has received national recognition as one of the best in the country.

During the recent trial of Jack McCullough for the kidnapping and murder of my sister, Maria, Cloyd Steiger, a veteran Seattle homicide detective, told me as we were waiting for the judge to return with his verdict that we were lucky to have a state’s attorney who had the courage to pursue such an old case. He said the chances of achieving a conviction in a 55-year-old case were slim at best. He said Clay Campbell – because he had the courage to do the right thing – has made it possible for the truth to be known.
