NIU Homecoming Parade to cause road closures

DeKALB – Police will close down roads to make way for the Northern Illinois University Homecoming Parade from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. on Stadium Drive. The parade will then march down Lucinda before turning onto Russell Road. It will snake around Greenbrier and Hillcrest roads before continuing onto Blackhawk Road, going as far north as Ridge. The parade will turn onto Normal Road from Ridge, and march until it reaches Lucinda Avenue again.

From there, the parade will march to Kishwaukee Drive and the Engineering Building, where the Homecoming Bonfire will be at 7 p.m. The university’s Homecoming King and Queen will be named then.
