DeKalb firefighters to host pancake breakfast

Published: Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

The DeKalb Fire Department is hosting an open house and pancake breakfast Sunday to raise money for its historical foundation and kick off fire prevention month.

The breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at DeKalb Fire Station 1, 700 Pine St. The meal costs $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 4 to 10. Those younger than 4 eat free.

Proceeds from the breakfast will help gather, preserve and maintain historical items from and about the DeKalb Fire Department.

Tours of the fire station will be given. Current and retired vehicles – including a 1951 Mack fire engine and 1930 Seagrave ladder truck – will be on display.

For additional information, contact the fire station at 815-748-8460.
