Barbs suffer first conference loss: Yorkville beat DeKalb, 2-1. The Barbs are now 7-2-5 and 5-1-1 in conference play. Zach Dixson-Smith scored the lone goal for DeKalb, while Gerardo Dorantes had the assist.

“Yorkville just showed a much greater desire to get the positive result than we did and consequently got the better result, and they deserve the win,” DeKalb coach Brent McIntosh said.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Dubrick takes first: DeKalb’s Marc Dubrick took first overall in a quadrangular with Aurora Central Catholic, Burlington Central and Harvard. Dubrick had a time of 15 minutes 48 seconds. Patrick Martin took sixth for the Barbs (16:34.1) while Isaac Hietanen was seventh (16:37.9). DeKalb won the meet with a score of 33.

“Our group of boys, second through fifth runners, were working together and challenging each other and we had a much stronger group than we’ve had most of the season,” DeKalb coach Mike Wolf said. “It’s encouraging they are moving in that direction.”

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
