2nd suspect arrested in DeKalb robbery
DeKALB – A second person was arrested Tuesday in connection with a robbery early Friday in DeKalb.
DeKalb police obtained a warrant Tuesday for John Lee Adams III, 22, of Chicago, with bond set at $250,000, said DeKalb police Lt. Jason Leverton. He was identified through a prior police contact he had while staying at an apartment at University Village, according to police.
Adams was arrested shortly after the warrant was issued in Chicago on an unrelated street-gambling incident.
Leverton said Adams was wanted on other charges, as well. Arrest warrants had been issued for his alleged involvement in a bank robbery in Indianapolis and an alleged motor vehicle theft in Bloomington, Ind. Since the bank robbery occurred first, Adams will be extradited to Indiana.
The first suspect, Anthony Phillips, 22, of the 800 block of Russell Road in DeKalb, was arrested Saturday and charged with robbery.
At about 5 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Greenbrier Road in DeKalb, a man was beaten and robbed by two people he and his girlfriend had met earlier that night. The man’s wallet was stolen.
