Sarah Buehler and Jonathon Raclaw, both of Volo, are engaged to be married Oct. 13, 2012, in Batavia.

The daughter of Lonnie and Marianne Buehler of DeKalb, the bride-to-be is a graduate of DeKalb High School and Kishwaukee College. She is employed as a paraprofessional at the Special Education District of Lake County in Gages Lake.

The son of Robin Raclaw of Arlington, Va., and the late Claude Raclaw, the groom-to-be received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in information technology from Northwestern University. He is a senior database systems engineer at Motorola Mobility in Libertyville.

90th birthday

Robert J. Diedrich will celebrate his 90th birthday on Oct. 12.

Robert, the first baby born at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1922, has been a lifelong farmer in DeKalb. With his wife, Gwyn (deceased 1997), he has 11 children, 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. With his wife, Phyllis Cavanaugh Diedrich, he has three stepdaughters.
