Kish Band offers ‘Service’ concert

The Greater Kishwaukee Area Concert Band will open its 11th season with a concert at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.

John Hansen, director, has titled the concert “Service” to honor doctors, nurses, police and fire personnel, EMTs, paramedics, medical caregivers of every kind, teachers and members of the military. The program is sponsored in memory of Geoffrey T. Wilkins.

The concert will open with Copland’s “Overture for the Common Man.” The traditional “Yankee Doodle” will follow. The audience will be asked to stand and join the band for the national anthem.
