Cutler shrugs off questions

Another prime-time game brought another sideline incident for Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

In the first half of the Bears’ 34-18 win against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, cameras caught Cutler abruptly walking away from Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice as the coach approached for a conversation. Cutler was seated on a bench after a disappointing series, and when Tice grabbed a seat next to Cutler and looked ready to talk, the quarterback stood up and walked away.

After the game, Cutler said he did not understand why the move drew scrutiny.

"I don't have to sit by him the whole game, do I?” Cutler asked.

No, but why walk away from a coach as he is trying to talk to you?

"Things happen during football games,” Cutler said. “Just because I walk off and go get water doesn't mean much."

Cutler was happier to discuss a 34-yard touchdown pass to Devin Hester.

“He ran a great route, killed the guy,” Cutler said. “[I] had to let it go a little sooner than I'd liked to and Devin did a great job of tracking it."

The play marked Hester’s first touchdown of the season. Cutler added a touchdown pass to Brandon Marshall later in the game.
