Regional marching bands to compete at Music Fest

Sandwich High School will host Music Fest 2012, a marching band competition, on Oct. 21.

As the host school, SHS’s Renegade Regiment will perform its field show. In addition, high schools from the northern Illinois region will compete in this annual event at the Sandwich High School football field.

Schools slated to attend include Grayslake North, Rantoul Township, LaSalle-Peru Township, Rolling Meadows, Marengo, Peotone, Marmion, Dwight Township, Yorkville, Rockridge, Kaneland, Plano, DeKalb, Hampshire, Oregon and more.

Music Fest kicks off at 1 p.m. with a parade from the high school. The parade – which includes the Sandwich Middle School Junior Regiment – starts down Lions Road and proceeds on Wells and Hall streets before turning back to the high school.

The field shows begin at 3 p.m. at the football field. The Sandwich High School Madrigals will sing the national anthem to begin the show. Admission to the show costs $8 for adults and $5 for students. Concessions and other items will be available throughout the afternoon and evening.
