Prep roundup: Sycamore tennis wraps up historic year

Sycamore girls tennis completed an historic regular season, defeating Dixon at home, 4-1.

Angelina Ye and Alexa Farris won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively while the No. 2 doubles team of Melanie Findlay and Alyssa Gregorec won in two sets. Lauren Lundbeck and Kathryn Sullivan earned the Spartans’ last point at No. 3 doubles.

The Spartans (16-1-1) didn’t lose a dual match all season, the first team in school history to achieve that mark.

“What a nice way to finish,” Sycamore coach Dave Hillmer said.

Their only defeat came in the Yorkville doubles tournament, according to Hillmer. Sycamore will compete in the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference tournament Friday.
