Lisa Leady of Genoa was named Mobile Groomer of the Year at the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, the competitive dog grooming industry’s version of the Oscars that honors the best and brightest groomers, contest judges and pet salons.

Certified as a Master Groomer by both the National Dog Groomers Association of America and the International Pet Groomers Inc., Leady is a third-generation groomer and owner of Primp My Pooch Mobile Dog and Cat Salon. She also is a member of Groom Team USA and was the No. 2 groomer in the country in 2006 and 2007. Leady has received numerous awards over her 30-year grooming career, including the very first Grooming Contest Judge of the Year from Barkleigh Honors and several Cardinal Crystal awards, including the David Salzberg Award, the Grooming Contest Judge of the Year Award and the Congeniality Award.

Leady and her husband raise and show smooth fox terriers, and she was the runner up on Animal Planet’s reality competition show, “Groomer Has It.”

“Lisa’s dedication to and enthusiasm for grooming and her willingness to share her skills with others reflect positively on the grooming world and help to promote awareness of the importance of proper grooming,” Tony de Vos, president of Cardinal Pet Care, sponsor of the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, said in a news release. “We are thrilled to present the Mobile Groomer of the Year Award to Lisa, and we congratulate her.”

The Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards were founded in 1988 by Cardinal Pet Care and the International Intergroom trade show to establish standards of grooming excellence and recognize professional skills in the competitive grooming industry.
