Sox turn to Sale as they sit one game back

CHICAGO – As the White Sox battle stay within contention for the playoffs, left-hander Chris Sale starts today hoping to dazzle.

Sale (17-7, 2.86 ERA) has dominated at U.S. Cellular Field. In his last 10 home starts he is 8-0 with a 1.45 ERA and 73 strikeouts while opponents are hitting .197 against him. Today marks Sale's second start of the year versus the Rays. He struck out 15 batters in 7 1/3 innings on May 28 at Tampa Bay.

Rookie left-hander Matt Moore (10-11, 3.92) takes the mound for the Rays, who are fighting for a Wild Card spot.

Alejandro De Aza was scratched from the lineup, replaced by Dewayne Wise who starts in center field and leads off.

The Sox sit one game back of the Tigers with five games remaining. Justin Verlander starts for Detroit who play this afternoon in Minnesota.
