Prep Football Week 6: What's at stake?

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

We're getting towards crunch time for our area teams and there's a lot on the line for each school this weekend. Here's the quick breakdown:

Kaneland: The Knights have never lost a Northern Illinois Big 12 East conference game since the conference was created in 2010. They'll put that, and a 20+ regular-season game winning streak, on the line tonight against DeKalb.

Sycamore: The Spartans are hoping to bounce back after a tough 10-6 loss to Ottawa. A win at home over Morris would clinch a playoff spot for Sycamore and make it three consecutive trips to the postseason. It won't come easy against the No.1 ranked team in Class 5A.

Genoa-Kingston: The Cogs need a win to get back to .500 after a Week 5 loss to Rockford Christian. A victory would also delay any must-win situations for G-K until at least Week 8.

Hiawatha: (See G-K). The Hawks suffered a tough Week 5 loss as well and are trying to get back to 3-3. A win over Mooseheart would be a statement victory for this group.

DeKalb: The Barbs have to win out for a chance at the postseason. They will try to stave off playoff elimination for one more week when they travel to Maple Park.
