Pig roast benefit planned for Sycamore woman
ELBURN – A pig roast benefit is scheduled Saturday for a Sycamore woman who is fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is in need of covering her medical expenses.
The benefit for Katie Meier, 31, is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Elburn Lions Community Park, 500 Filmore St., Elburn.
The benefit will include face painting, inflatables, a silent auction and raffle. Stroker Red is also scheduled to perform from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Meier is in stage two of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and has been through 12 cycles of chemotherapy and 18 days of radiation. She found out she was not covered by her insurance provider for these expenses.
Meier was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma in April 2011 and is now in need of a bone marrow transplant.
Tickets are on sale at Resource Bank, 555 Bethany Road in DeKalb, and also at the Resource Bank in Genoa, located at 310 Route 23.

Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children younger than 10. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.
